Dozens of mothers and children from Milwaukee Rescue Mission's Joy House homeless shelter enjoyed a special holiday event at Assurant Health on Dec. 23.   Santa stopped by to lift the holiday spirits of girls and boys from Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s Joy House at a luncheon hosted by Assurant Health on Monday, Dec. 23. As Santa walked in the room, the children dropped their forks and looked at him with amazement.

The quest for Lalaloopsies threw Assurant Health employees for a loop this holiday season. Penfield Children's Center volunteers Buster Wilks and Wendy Clark stopped by Assurant Health's offices in Milwaukee to pick up gifts purchased by employees through the Giving Tree program - a holiday drive that matches people in need with volunteers to purchase gifts on their wish lists.

Several White Bear Lake High School students recently traded in their jeans and t-shirts for button up shirts and ties when they visited Assurant’s Woodbury, Minn. offices to meet their eMentors. The students were eager to meet face-to-face with the mentors who had provided them insights about the business world over email during the past eight weeks. For many, this also was the first time they visited an office setting. During the program, students send weekly emails posing questions that focus on themes such as education, technology and leadership.

To bring bright smiles to disadvantaged children in Mexico, Assurant Solutions Mexico recently assembled and donated 250 dental hygiene kits to World Vision’s dental care project. World Vision, an international relief organization, launched the Bright Smiles program to address the oral health issues of underprivileged children. Basic care packages filled with toothpaste, a toothbrush and dental floss for children through the elementary school system are distributed through the program.

Helping to spread holiday cheer and give thanks, the Assurant Foundation recently donated 5,000 greeting cards for the American Red Cross “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program. The Red Cross’ annual holiday card campaign encourages the public to send inspirational and uplifting messages to military stationed in the United States and abroad. In its seventh year, the program has distributed 6.5 million cards to Armed Forces members during the holiday season.

ATLANTA, Nov. 21, 2013 -- The Assurant Foundation and Assurant Specialty Property today announced a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross, to help victims of Sunday’s tornadoes in the Midwest. The contribution from the Assurant Foundation, the charitable arm of specialty insurance provider Assurant, Inc., will go to the Red Cross’ disaster relief fund. The organization is providing shelter and other assistance for storm victims in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.

Now in its ninth year, SkaterAid was launched to celebrate the life of Ian Wochatz, a Decatur, Ga. teen and avid skateboarder who succumbed to brain cancer on July 4, 2005 at age 15.
